FRANCISO "Ycoy" BANEZ or IBANEZ,a Spanish who went to the Philippines. He owned a land in Ormoc, Leyte, Philippines. Even though he's a Spanish, he was loved by the people. He is known by his nickname "Ycoy". He became the subject for arrest by guardia civil because of helping the katipuneros.Since people know him as Ycoy, he decided to use Ycoy as his surname.

Francisco has three sons, one went to north of Luzon, the other to north of Visayas and the last stayed in Ormoc.

1--Bart Ycoy , son of Francisco Banez. He died at the age of 120 during the Japanese Era.He's a meztiso, the japanese mistaken him as an American. The story is told that the Japanese ask him to catch the chicken and when he couldn't he was beaten to death. His grandchildren, who saw it took revenge. They hide in the grassy place where the 4 Japanese is heading. They took them one by one and slash they're head and buried them so that the Japanese soldiers won't know what they did.

Miss Neomi, First off I would like to thank for your brilliant creation. Secondly, in the second paragraph it states that Bart is the eldest of Francisco's three sons. Yet there was a comment made by Rodrigo Ycoy that Francisco's sons from eldest to youngest as Carlo Ycoy, Segundo Ycoy and Daniel Ycoy. Can someone clarify this please?

Miss Noemi, Can you please tell if you know which of the three brothers migrated to N. Luzon? I am Jim Ycoy from Bagiuo and the rest of my relatives are from La Union/Pangasinan area. I am in the process of creating the N. luzon branch of the family. Patulong po. Salamat, please email me your response at "jmycoy@att.net"

Hi Jim! according to my father, whose Segundo's "Gundong" grandson, He can only recall that his great grandfather's name is Bart and one went to ill-ilo after getting married to Manubay.

I'm looking for to your research. Some of the older relatives can help you with that.

Hi! I hope that this family tree of ours can be completed. It is a great way for us to appreciate the humble beginnings of our clan.

During my employment in Camp Crame I meet one police officer and his name was Eduardo Ycoy from La Union. There are many Ycoys in Iloilo I meet Jose Ycoy. Philippine Port Authority employee.
